I'm Corban. I run Laban Creative based in Tauranga, alongside my wife.

Tauranga has been home for more than 20 years. Apart from a period where I moved to Wellington to study media and pursue basketball with the Wellington Saints.

After returning to the Bay of Plenty, I’ve been working with athletes and sports/performance businesses across New Zealand; shooting their projects, building their brands, and telling their stories.

Over the past few years in the creative industry, I’ve noticed the businesses delivering the most value are often the ones struggling to communicate it. Not because their work isn’t strong, but because it isn’t being translated in a way people can understand or connect with.

That’s what I aim to change. How?

Stories are what people connect with. Without the stories my Grandparents passed on to me when they moved from Samoa, there's a lack of identity and understanding for me to connect with. When your work is expressed through storytelling, it stops being something people simply see, and becomes something they feel. Its how your name is remembered, memories are formed, and lasting connection is built.
